Hasegology (ハセ学, hasegaku) is the study of issues concerning Hasegawa Ryota. Hasegology reveals his lifestyle, personality and habit. More generally, Hasegology also means the study of behavior pattern of Internet flamers', or flaming itself. Some Koushinists believe all the Koushinists should learn Hasegology in order not to be successors of Hasegawa.

Study of Hasegawa Ryota

The following topics are the main themes of Hasegology.

  • Hasegawa's lifestyle and personality
  • lies and inconsistencies on what Hasegawa said
  • Hasegawa's contributions as anonymous after he was named

Hasegologists study about them by researching his replies and finding his tendencies. Hasegologists also use his friends' writings (like blogs, mixi articles, Facebook statuses and tweets) to figure out human relationships around him. One of the most important documents is the blog his girlfriend Manfe (マンフェ, lit. Pussy Face) wrote. Hasegologists call this blog “MAN'yōshū” (マン葉集, lit. Pussi'yōshū), due to the importance comparable to Man'yōshū in Japanese traditional literature.

Other themes

The term "Hasegology" also refers to studying these topics:[1]

  • behavior patterns of those who are flamed or identified on the web
  • causes of Internet flaming
  • Internet literacy to avoid Internet flaming (for example, not to let people hate them, not to write their personal data, such as the region they live or their School Foundation Day, on the Internet)

As the most famous outcome Hasegology achieved, it is known that identified people in anonymous Internet community tend to delete websites which correctly show their personal data (known as 答え合わせ理論 answer-check theory). Hasekara Family (including even Koushinists) have established the correctness of the theory by being named.
